Decking, dining and bar area, daybeds, patio, soft seating & trampoline

Decking, dining and bar area, daybeds, patio, soft seating, and trampoline.  Something for all the family!  delivered by Landscaping Cambridge.

Our clients were looking for a much more exciting outdoor space than the bland grass and paved, walled garden of their newbuild property.  Together with our landscape designer they drew up their dream garden and our expert team prepared to make this a reality.

The Landscaping Cambridge team began by carefully clearing the area of lawn and paving, removing the waste from site and marking out the area.

A sunken trampoline was installed for the children, which required the team to excavate a pit and build a retaining wall to accommodate this.

A raised decking area was constructed and positioned to lead from both sets of patio doors and our clients chose the Dino-decking Classic Range in Ash to achieve this smart modern appearance.  This composite decking is both durable and slip resistant with a grooved finish on one side and a natural wood texture on the other.  Also, it is low maintenance and does not require staining etc. every year.  The decking was laid on a treated timber subframe and attached with hidden fixings and facia boards for a very neat finish.  This provided the perfect setting for a large outdoor table and bench seating, ideal for alfresco dining with a striking modern pyramid flame patio heater positioned by the dining area.

To complete the area between the decking and the garage, porcelain paving in Erebor beige was laid, to accommodate the bar and bench.  These were constructed of dense concrete blocks on a concrete foundation, topped with porcelain tiles and finished with stone cladding.

Two further areas of matching porcelain paving were attractively laid at an angle to the perimeter wall to provide a relaxing seating area plus a base for a stunning daybed with canopy to enjoy the garden in comfort.  Staggered steppingstone slabs were laid in the lawn leading from the decking to the paved areas and drawing your eye across the garden.  Porcelain paving reflects the light and is fairly stain resistant and in this pale colour the garden appears lighter and larger.

The wall behind the soft seating area was clad with tanalised treated timber battens with gaps left between the battens for aesthetic purposes, thus breaking up the continuous wall of the garden.  To further enhance the wall area, an artificial green wall was erected behind the daybeds and fixed to the brick work giving all year-round interest and colour.

Young trees were planted along the wall to provide more privacy for the family and flowerbeds were prepared around the base of the trees with fresh topsoil and soil improver and a metal edging to define the border and the lawn.  Decorative bark chippings were then spread around the planting to give a smart finish, retain moisture, and help suppress weeds.  The remaining area was similarly prepared, levelled, and laid with turf.

The final touch was to install down lighting behind the soft seating and the sun bed area and also at the base of the trees.  This totally transforms this stylish garden in the evenings, making the area come alive and illuminating the trees against the brick walls and providing a beautiful backdrop for the new features.

This really is an inviting outdoor space for the whole family and friends and definitely a garden to be proud of!
