Luxury outdoor space with hydro pool, shower, and fully equipped outdoor kitchen for al fresco dining – Enjoy the summer for longer!
Above all, our clients desired a Hydrotherapy pool, shower, outdoor kitchen and seating area, to thoroughly transform their outdoor space. Therefore, our landscape designer drew up the ideal plan.
The whole area needed completely clearing to begin with and our dedicated landscaping team set to work. First and foremost, our expert team pulled up old sleeper beds, patio, fencing, excess soil, etc. After the initial task, along with the excavated soil, they carefully removed the debris from the site of the property, in preparation for the hydrotherapy pool. Primarily, the construction of the concrete foundation including steel re-enforcement for the pool, could then begin. Retaining walls coated with bitumen, made of block work, were constructed to prevent damp ingress.
For the area around the pool, our clients chose Millboard composite decking, and the colour used here was Burnt Cedar. Moreover, this area required a bespoke design, so that all panels could be lifted, as necessary to carry out work pool structure and workings for maintenance etc. Composite decking has a longer lifespan than timber, therefore, this was also used for the subframe. This was an obvious choice around a damp pool area. For the decking area, fascia and edging boards were placed around the perimeter, with bullnose finish boards, to run along the edge of the steps. This provides a smart, elegant finish.
To make full use of the space underneath the decking, a framework was built within the decking which was then boarded out and access doors added to provide underneath storage.
The electrical work was carried out by our qualified electrician and included the armoured cable, connection boxes etc. for the connection of the swim spa, plus some garden lighting to enhance the area.
The outdoor kitchen was created in one corner to give a cosy secluded feel. Attractive porcelain paving was chosen as the base for this area as it is easy to care for and resists stains A stunning metal pergola was erected over the top and the slats can be opened to allow the sun’s rays to shine through or closed when cloudy or raining. These waterproof pergolas are ideal for the British weather and mean your party can carry on regardless! The L-shaped kitchen work area was built on a concrete foundation and constructed from dense concrete blocks 4 high and included a fitted grill, fridge, sink and storage space. The outside of the blocks were clad and stylish stone worktops added to complete the look, with plenty of covered space left for comfy outdoor soft seating.

The remaining outdoor area was cleverly designed into zones with a variety of surfaces and textures which all complement each other beautifully, with an area of cobbles for a further table and bench seating area and an area to the rear finished with decorative shingle. Matching porcelain paving and shingle lead to the outdoor shower.
Raised sleeper beds were included for added interest and colour and the soil was prepared with improver and fertiliser ready for planting with a mix of shrubs, perennials, herbaceous plants, and grasses.
Horizontal slat / hit and miss timber fencing was erected along one side of the kitchen area and provides an attractive boundary whilst also providing some privacy.
The property benefits from delightful open views of the surrounding countryside and the carefully designed positioning of the raised decking pool area, the seating and access gates etc. mean these can be fully enjoyed.

Lighting is essential once the sun goes down and whilst being practical it can also set the mood of any space with bright lights for a party mood or soft lighting for a more relaxed feel.
